Rising E-Waste Without Adequate Formal Recycling Infrastructure

Tamil Nadu is the second highest e-waste producing state in India, generating thousands of tonnes of electronic waste annually from households, IT companies, and manufacturing units. However, formal e-waste recycling infrastructure remains inadequate, resulting in hazardous materials being processed by informal workers without safety protections. Establishing certified e-waste processing facilities and implementing producer responsibility norms strictly are critical.
